The home town Minor Bantam AA Tigers come out on top.
On Friday night, your Minor Bantam AA Tigers hosted their rivals at the Aurora Community Centre and came out with a very sportsman-like tie of 3-3 to start the series. Anthony Russo got between the pipes for the Tigers for the weekend opener and Anton Sopov decided to literally take matters into his own hands and wowed the crowd with a hat-trick!!!!
The Tigers travelled up Yonge Street on Sunday afternoon to face off at the Olympic-sized Forhan rink at the Magna Centre in Newmarket. Liam Hadcock got the nod from Coach Simardone to defend in goal against the Redmen for the 3pm start. Dylan Andersen got the scoring started for Tigers and in the words of Coach Bray, “he showed grit and tenacity driving hard to the net for the first goal of the afternoon”. Myles Graham scored the game winning goal for Aurora – a nice reward for a hard working player who was in the perfect position to put the puck in the net. Final score of the game was 2-1 in favour of the Aurora Tigers.
