Captains Selected
It is with great anticipation for the upcoming season that I can announce the selection of our Captains.
The role of a captain is extremely important within the framework of a hockey team. The primary role of a captain is communicating with on ice game officials. Secondarily, captains also provide leadership, motivation and strong examples for their fellow teammates.
Choosing captains is a very difficult job for any coach and I struggled with this process as we are blessed with several strong candidates for these honours. I personally have had the opportunity to work with many great captains throughout my hockey career. Some were loud and inspirational, others were quite and thoughtful but all of them lead by example. I will personally rely heavily on these young men to help relay my messages to our squad. With this in mind I have selected the following players for these roles:
Luca Capraro - Captain
Jack Bray - Alternate Captain
Ryan Bryden - Alternate Captain
Matt Reid - Alternate Captain
Through the preseason these gentlemen have exhibited different skills that I feel will build upon each other to form a strong and successful leadership group. I ask everyone to reach out and congratulate these young men and give them the support they need to fulfill their roles for the ultimate benefit of our team.
