U13A Bring Home Bronze with Jeremy Anderson Winning the Goalie Challenge from Lake Placid
Submitted By Joanne Rey-Reiter on Mon 11 21, 22
U13A travelled to Lake Placid this past weekend to compete in the 2022 Can-Am Youth Challenge Cup.

The team played a number of competitive United States teams in a division above our own, completing a round-robin series, going 1-1-1. The team found their rhythm on the 2nd day of the tournament allowing the group to play a redemption game in a Bronze Medal Final against the Ridgefield Lions.

The Ridgefield 12U AA team were successful against the U13A Tigers a day prior by scoring a go-ahead goal 3 mins in the 3rd period. However, redemption was found during the bronze medal final when the Tigers dominated the game with a nail-biting 3rd period with the Tigers taking the Bronze and winning the game 2 – 1. Ridgefield took every advantage to equalize the game, even when the Tigers severed a series of penalties with 2 mins left in the 3rd with a 4 on 6 in which the Lions couldn’t capitalize on.

Success this weekend was found with outstanding team determination, collaboration and goaltending from both net minders. Six players completed in a Skills Compensation with Jeremey Anderson winning the Goalie Shootout, making 8 saves with 9 shots against. Jeremey was also required to make an additional save not required by the other commentators based on a technicality.

Congratulations to all players on the U13A team, what an accomplishment!

Tournament weekends are always special, but this was full of so many memories – on and off the ice. Lake Placid and CAN/AM is truly an adventure to experience for all ages and is a consideration for any and all rep teams.

THANK YOU to our parents, families and sponsors for their support this weekend.
