YSMHL Season Split for 2025/26
Dear Aurora MH Families,

In an effort to reduce the travel burden within the ever-growing York Simcoe Minor Hockey League, YSMHL and its members have voted in favour a league realignment effective for the 2025/26 season.

Effective immediately YSMHL will be split into 2 divisions, North/West and South/East based on geographical locations of each association. The following divisions may be subject to change based on number of teams entered at any given division and to ensure that a variety of teams can make up the schedule. Division splits will be based on division numbers and a threshold for splitting any division will be made ahead of the scheduling meetings. Larger divisions will follow the split guidelines below, while smaller division of 10 teams or less will most likely play as one division. The guidelines for the divisions will be as follows:

SOUTH/EAST Division
• Aurora
• Newmarket
• Richmond Hill
• Markham
• Whitchurch-Stouffville
• Upper York
• King

NORTH/WEST Division
• Caledon
• Orangeville
• TNT
• Barrie
• Collingwood
• Georgian Bay (new)
• Orillia
• South Simcoe

Cross divisional play will be limited, and details on this are still TBD, but travel to the other division may limited to 1 away game every 2 years. EX: Year 1- Aurora travels to Collingwood, Year 2, Collingwood travels to Aurora. This will be applied to all teams in the divisions, and teams should not travel to the other division more than once in a season. The schedule will not be balanced and is expected to be a 26-28 game regular season. Playoff format TBD but expected to follow a similar format the 2024/25 season. Official memo from YSMHL to be released at a later date.

Thank you,
