U10 AA Silverstick Regional Finalists
Submitted By Joanne Rey-Reiter on Monday, December 6, 2021
It was Silver Stick Regional weekend in Georgina and the U10 Aurora Tigers AA were there.

The U10 AA Tigers played against some tough competition in the round robin, remaining undefeated – going 3-0-1. This secured the #1 seed and a spot in the Sunday’s semifinals.

The stage was set for a competitive semi-final against Bradford, who currently occupy first in the YSMHL and the Tigers had played previously to a tie & loss. Bradford came out fast and furious gaining the lead early. They continued their goal scoring flurry up to the 14:18 of third, leaving the Tigers down 3-0. Many teams may have folded but not these Tigers. The U10 AA battled back to make the game 3-2. In the dying seconds of the game, the goalie pulled for an extra attacker, the Tigers pressed. With 0:20 remaining the Tigers scored to tie the game and drive the semi-final into overtime. The 5v5 1st OT period passed without any result and a 4v4 2nd OT didn’t resolve the game either. On to the 3rd OT of 3v3 hockey, where a quick shot from the slot sealed the game and a trip to the championship finals.

In the championship final, the Tigers came up against a strong Humber Valley team who had won their semi-final in regulation. In a tough final, the Tigers lost 5-2 to the strong team from Humber Valley.

Tournament weekends are always special but this was one for the books. While we may not have had the desired result in the final, it was pleasure to see these U10 boys grow together as a team and develop as hockey players.

A big THANK YOU to our parents, families and sponsors for their support this weekend.
