AMHA/ Welcoming Arms Annual Christmas Assistance Drive
Submitted By Joanne Rey-Reiter on Thursday, October 28, 2021
Hello all Tiger Players, Parents, Coaches, Managers and Convenors,

It's that wonderful time of the season again where as a hockey organization we get to showcase our spirit of giving and thankfulness by helping make the Christmas/Holiday Season a little more enjoyable for families in our communities that are less fortunate.

For those of you that have participated in this wonderful program in previous years, you know how much fun it is for us and our players and the joy we bring to the participants of the program.

Welcoming Arms (WA) is grateful for our willingness to continue supporting those in need in our community through our Christmas Assistance Program.  Our support in the past has taken a couple of forms which included stockings overflowing with gifts, and due to the pandemic, donations of gift cards/money towards different programs put on by WA.

We would love to get back to the stockings again because they are much more personal, but due to the continued uncertainty of the pandemic and public health regulations, we are respectfully asking that we support WA, as we did last year, in any of the following ways:

Option 1:

Sponsor a Welcome Table meal.  Welcome Table is currently serving 130 takeout dinners to those in need every Wednesday night.  A team could group together to provide the funding for this, and WA would recognize the Team on their Social Media Platforms.  Cost $500.00.

Option 2:

Donations of President's Choice gift cards ($25/$50 denominations only please) which would go towards our Bridging the Gap Program's Christmas Assistance Program.  This allows WA's clients to purchase what they really need for their families.  WA specifically chooses PC, as many of their visitors shop at No Frills for food and the Superstore also has non-food items that can be purchased as gifts.

Option 3:

Cash donations via e-transfer.  This was very popular with our organization last year and gives WA the flexibility to use the funds where they are most needed.  If you choose this option, please transfer the funds to [email protected] and use the word hockey as the password.  Unfortunately, at this point WA is not able to set up auto-deposit on their account.  One hundred percent of these funds go directly to families in need.

We are so looking forward to getting back to our stocking preparation for next year.

We are asking that donations/etransfers be submitted by November 29th so that WA has time to coordinate their efforts ahead of time.

Please email me at [email protected]ca or 416-587-3415 with any questions and with what option you will be helping with so we can keep a tally of our contributions.

THANK YOU for your continued support of those in need in our community.

P.S. If you know of anyone who needs assistance, please let us know.

Sincerely,

Elena Avraam Neophytou
