Spectator Limits in Town of Aurora Rinks
Submitted By Joanne Rey-Reiter on Wednesday, October 13, 2021
Hello All,

Following last week's Provincial announcement that the spectator limit has been lifted for indoor sport venues, the Town will be lifting the spectator limit effective 12:01 am on Friday, October 15th. As all COVID screening, contact tracing and verification of vaccination status is still required, and in order to manage the increased volume of people entering the facility, please note the following reminders/changes to our Return to Sport Protocols.  These changes are also effective 12:01 on Friday, October 15th.

  • Teams anticipating spectators will now be required to have two Safety Ambassadors (SA) for each game/practice.
    • One SA will be stationed outside of the main entrance where they will ensure all persons (players & spectators) associated with their game/practice, will line up in the queuing area outside. This SA will ensure that only one player or one family enters at one time, to be screened.
    • The other SA will be stationed inside the main entrance as directed, and will conduct the COVID screening, contact tracing and proof of vaccination status one person/family at a time.
    • Once one person/family is screened, the outside SA can let the next person/family inside.
    • If someone not associated with your event comes to the main entrance, please direct them inside to the Facility Greeter (Town staff).
    • Visiting Teams must have their own SA and follow the same procedures to enter the facilities.
    • Teams will be allowed into the facility 30 mins before their ice time.
    • Players/parents arriving late will not be permitted into the facility, unless the SA is there to screen them and verify vaccination. Communication is key with the team's SA.
  • All spectators are asked to remain in the designated spectator areas, except for the following reasons:
    • To assist their child changing before/after their activity
    • To assist their child using the washroom
    • To use the washroom themselves
    • To use the vending machines (opening on Nov. 1)
    • To purchase from the snack bar (opening on Nov. 1)
    • To use the Pro Shop (now open on a limited schedule)
  • All persons entering and exiting the building should do so promptly to avoid crowding in the lobbies and entrance areas.
  • Any purchases from the vending machines or snack bars must be taken back into the designated spectator area to be consumed.
  • Masks must be worn at all times, except when actively eating or drinking.
  • Physical distancing must be maintained at all times when not in the designated spectator areas.

With the increased capacity and the requirement to complete screening, contract tracing and confirm proof of vaccination status, we anticipate longer lines to enter our facilities. We ask for your patience during this time. To help expedite the process, we recommend your members arrive early and have their information ready to present to your SA’s. We also ask that you ensure your volunteers, participants and spectators be patient and conduct themselves accordingly. Our zero tolerance policy remains in effect for any inappropriate behavior towards staff or other facility visitors.

Regards,
Joe Bentolila
President
