Rules and Regulations

 

1. This is an Ontario Minor Hockey Association (OMHA) sanctioned NONCONTACT Tournament. As such, it will be conducted according to the

playing rules and regulations of the OMHA.

 

2. A representative must register and pick up their tournament package prior

to their first game, with the Tournament Committee, at the Tournament

office, located at ACC1 at least one hour prior to playing their first game.

ACC1- 1 Community Centre Lane, Aurora Heights Drive, Aurora, Ontario

L4G 5C4. Player cards or approved roster must be presented as well as

written permission from the team’s home centre. Ineligible players will not

participate in any Tournament games.

 

3. Teams must be ready to play fifteen (15) minutes before the scheduled

game time.

 

4. Each tournament game, including semi-final and final games, will consist

of a three (3) minute warm up followed by three ten minute stop-time

periods (i.e. 10-10-10 stop-time). The clock will start running for the warm-up period as soon as the Zamboni has left the ice and the door is closed. The first period will start immediately following the warm up and the clock will not stop until the first stoppage in play. A flood will take place after each game.

5. A running clock mercy rule will take effect for the following occurrence:

a. If after the third period if there is a five goal differential the clock will

run for the remainder of the game unless the goal differential is

reduced to less than 3 goals. The only time the clock will stop

during play is if an on-ice injury should occur. Penalties assessed

during running time will be a 3-minute duration, stop time will be 2

minutes.

 

6. All games will be round robin and points will be awarded as follows:

Period Win 2 points Period Tie 1 point Period Loss 0 points

 

 

 

7. If teams are tied in the standings at the end of Round Robin play, ties will

be broken as follows:

a. Two teams only: The winning team in head-to-head competition will

be awarded the higher standing.

b. If the two teams are still tied, or if more than two teams are tied: the

team with the fewest goals against will be awarded the higher

standing.

c. If two or more teams are still tied: the team with the highest goals

for will be awarded the higher standing.

d. If two or more teams are still tied: the team that has the highest

result of goals for divided by goals against will be awarded the

higher standing.

e. If two or more teams are still tied: the team with the fewest penalty

minutes will be awarded the higher standing.

f. If the teams are still tied after all previous methods have been

applied, the winner of the play-off spot will be decided by a single

toss of a coin by the AMHA President.

 

8. All semi-final and final games will consist of two ten minute stop-time

periods followed by one fifteen minute stop-time period. Home team will

be the team that finishes with the highest points at the end of Round

Robin play. In order for a player to play in a semi-final or final game they

must have played in at least 1 round robin game.

a. If the game ends in a tie a five (5) minute running time, sudden

death period will be played with five skaters and one goalie per

team. If at the end of the five minute period there is no winner then

the following will take place:

i. First Minute-teams will play 5 on 5 (plus goalie) until a goal is

scored or buzzer sounds.

ii. Second Minute-teams will play 4 on 4 (plus goalie) until a

goal is scored or buzzer sounds.

iii. Third Minute-teams will play 3 on 3 (plus goalie) until a goal

is scored or buzzer sounds.

iv. Fourth Minute-teams will play 2 on 2 (plus goalie) until a goal

is scored or buzzer sounds.

b. Goalie must remain on ice at all times during the four-one minute

segments- except during a delayed penalty call. If the game

remains tied, teams will continue to play 2 on 2 (plus goalie) until

the tie is broken. The buzzer will sound after each one minute shift

and two new skaters will go on the ice.

c. No player can play 2 shifts until all skaters on the roster have

played once.

 

9. Suspensions incurred during the Tournament must be served during any

remaining Tournament play, as per OMHA Rules. This applies to all

teams from all associations. The Tournament Committee reserves the

right to render decisions regarding rule interpretations. All decisions are

final. NO PROTESTS will be allowed.

 

10. Team advancing to finals are allowed (1) 30 second time out.
