Dear Parents,
My name is Rob Shilton, and I will be the head coach for the Aurora U8 MD team for the upcoming season. I am excited about this opportunity and look forward to providing a great year of development and fun for the players.
I would like to welcome all parents and players to the 2025-26 tryouts. I wish everyone the best of luck throughout this process.
This year's tryout schedule is as follows:
Tryout #1: 3:30-5:00 pm, Aurora CC McAlpine Lincoln
Tryout #2: 12:30-2:00 pm, Aurora CC McAlpine Ford
Tryout #3: 6:00-7:30 pm, Aurora CC McAlpine Ford
Tryout Process:
You must pre-register your child online on the AMHA website and purchase a tryout passport
You will need your child’s passport number as a reference for the tryout process. Your players passport number is the last 5 numbers on your invoice from the passport purchase. If you cannot locate your number, please contact the AMHA or myself direct .
Please arrive at least 30 minutes before the tryout begins. Upon arrival at the ACC rink #2 lobby, go to the AMHA table to sign in and receive your child’s tryout jersey. This jersey must be returned at the end of each tryout and does not go home with the player.
Please bring a backup jersey in case we run out of jerseys.
Full protective gear is mandatory, including neck guards. Players without full equipment will
NOT be allowed on the ice.
During and after the tryout, please refrain from approaching the evaluators as they will be focused on evaluating the players. Results for whether your child moves on to the next tryout will be posted on the website, not in person. You can find your child’s passport submission ID number to check for updates.
Results timeline:
After the 1st tryout, results will be posted that evening.
After the 2nd tryout, results will be posted that evening.
After the 3rd tryout, results will be posted approximately 3-4 hours after the tryout concludes.
Other Team Information:
The cost to play U8 MD will be approximately $2,000. Players will be on the ice 3-4 times per week for practices and games. Our goal for this season is to provide a positive, safe, and inclusive environment where players have fun, develop their skills, and learn about the game of hockey.
We hope to cultivate a passion for the game in all our players, with the hope they’ll continue to enjoy and play hockey for years to come. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out at any time. Thank you, and I look forward to seeing everyone at tryouts this week.
Best regards
Rob
