Hello hockey parents,
My name is Jason Corazza and I am thrilled to be the head coach for the 2024-2025 U12 AA hockey team. I would like to welcome everyone to our tryouts and thank you for taking the time to attend. I believe we will have a very competitive tryout and I wish every player the best of luck!
Your athlete will have the opportunity to showcase their skills and earn a spot at their position. I understand some of you are coming “just for the experience” as you’ve stated but I assure you everyone has an equal chance and I will do my best to make sure your child enjoys the process.
TRYOUT SCHEDULE:
Tryout #1: Tuesday April 30, 2024 6:15pm - 7:45pm ACC2 – Lincoln Rink
Tryout #2: Wednesday May 1, 2024 8:00pm – 9:30pm ACC1 – Ford Rink
Tryout #3: Thursday May 2, 2024 6:15pm – 7:45pm ACC2 – Lincoln Rink
TRYOUT PROCESS:
1. On the day of each tryout, AMHA representatives will be present to help with the tryout registration process. Registration will take place at ACC foyer prior to the tryout. Every player should have registered for a Tryout Passport prior to the first tryout. Details can be found at:

2. Please arrive at least 45 minutes before the tryout begins.
3. When you arrive at the ACC, please go to the AMHA table to sign-in and receive your child’s tryout jersey. THIS JERSEY MUST BE RETURNED AT THE END OF EACH TRYOUT! It does not go home.
4. Full protective gear is mandatory, including neck and mouth guards – players without, or missing such equipment, will NOT be allowed on the ice.
5. There will be a team of independent evaluators who will be assisting me with assessing the players. The AMHA will also assign independent evaluators.
6. During and after the tryout, please do NOT approach the evaluators, as they have a job to do.
7. Communication of my decisions after each tryout will occur via the website and NOT in person at the arena. Your player’s passport submission ID number is your code that identifies you on the website (Look at U12AA for the team and then to the Tryout Player List page).
- After the 1st tryout, results will be posted no later than 11:00 PM the same day
- After the 2nd tryout, results will be posted no later than 11:00 PM of the same day.
- After the 3rd tryout, results will be posted AFTER 4:00 PM the FOLLOWING day.
8. Please look to the AMHA website for additional information on association tryout policies. PLEASE kindly reinforce with your child that they perform at their best when feeling relaxed and confident. It is also important for parents to help manage their child’s expectations during this process. A roster position on this team should never be assumed. Let’s all make the tryout process an enjoyable one!

TEAM EXPECTATIONS:
There will be a financial commitment from each family. The estimated financial commitment will be approximately $3,200.
· We will be looking for sponsors to help reduce the cost per family.
· There will also be a time commitment required of each family. We will be on the ice 3 to 5 times per week with practices and games. It is expected that all players attend all practices and games.
· Part of the season development plan includes spring training sessions and beginning of season training camp.
· YSMHL Playoffs and practices will be take place through March Break 2025.
· We will be attending 3 tournaments (with one being an away tournaments).
· Our season extends all the way to April 14, 2025. Please make your vacation plans accordingly. It is expected that all players attend all practices and games.
I will be looking for the following parent positions: 2 Practice coaches, Trainer, Team manager(s) and a Videographer as well as other roles (fundraising, social committee, etc.)
Regular Team communications will be through a WhatsApp group chat. This app will be a requirement for parents to stay informed.
All decisions about player positions are at the discretion of the coach and will most likely change during the season based on the needs of the team.

Changes to the upcoming 2024 Tryouts:
1. Returning players MUST try out for the level above (AKA 1 up rule)
2. Incumbents are no longer guaranteed 3 tryouts, the purpose is for there to be 3 meaningful tryouts.
