Welcome to the U10 AA Tryouts!
Dear Parents,
My name is Jamie Brubacher and I am the head coach for the 2024/2025 U10 AA Aurora Tiger’s hockey team.  I would like to welcome everyone to the tryouts and thank you for taking the time to attend. I wish each and every player the best of luck!

TRYOUT SCHEDULE:
Tryout #1 = Monday April 29th, 2024 – ACC #1 (Ford) – 6:30 pm – 8:00 pm
Tryout #2 = Wednesday May 1st, 2024 – ACC #1 (Ford) – 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm
Tryout#3 = Friday May 3rd, 2024 – ACC #2 (Lincoln) – 6:00 pm – 7:30 pm - Game vs Newmarket

TRYOUT PROCESS:

1. You must pre-register your child online (AMHA Website) for the upcoming season & purchase a tryout passport.Once you have purchased your tryout passport you will receive an email with a submission ID, this will be your childs passport number.

2. Please ensure that you indicate the position that your player is trying out for, however all decisions about player positions are at the discretion of the coach and could change during the season based on the needs of the team.

3. A few days before the first tryout, you will see your childs passport number on the U10 AA – Tryout Player List page on the website. If the number is not there, please contact the AMHA.

4. Please arrive at least 30 minutes before the tryout begins.

5. When you arrive at the lobby of the ACC rink #2, please go to the AMHA table to sign-in and receive your childs tryout jersey. THIS JERSEY MUST BE RETURNED AT THE END OF EACH TRYOUT. It does not go home.

6. Full protective gear is mandatory, including neck and mouth guards – players without, or missing such equipment, will NOT be allowed on the ice.

7. You MUST attend the first tryout in order to be invited back to the second or third tryout. If for whatever reason you are unable to attend, please email me to discuss.

8. Once the first tryout begins, we will have a quick parent meeting in one of the change rooms so I can introduce myself and answer any questions you might have about the upcoming season.

9. During the tryouts there will be independent evaluators assisting me through tryout process. Please do NOT approach the evaluators, as they have a job to do.

10. Communication of my decisions after each tryout will occur via the website and NOT in person. Your childs passport submission ID number is the code that identifies them on the team website. If your childs number remains on the website after they have been updated, you are invited to come to the next tryout.

After the 1st tryout, results will be posted that evening no earlier than 9:30PM

After the 2nd tryout, results will be posted no earlier than 7PM on May 2nd.

After the 3rd tryout, results will be posted within 3 hours after the end of the game.

There are many different factors that go into player decisions beyond skill level. Decisions are also made based on behavior, attitude, work ethic, coachability as well as various other criteria. A roster position on this team should never be assumed. The tryout process is designed to identify the best collective group of players to form next years U10 AA Team.

I am aware that some players (and/or their parents) may experience anxiety during this process. PLEASE kindly reinforce with your child that they perform at their best when feeling relaxed and confident. It is also important for parents to help manage their childs expectations during this process. Lets all make the tryout process an enjoyable one!

TEAM EXPECTATIONS:

There will be a financial and time commitment required from each family invited to join the team. The estimated financial commitment will be approximately $3,000 in addition to the AMHA registration fee (which you have already paid). We will be looking for sponsorships and fundraising to help reduce the cost per family. The time commitment will be 3 to 4 times per week with practices and games and a season that will run from September 2024 – April 2025. It is expected that all players attend all practices and games and arrive on time and in uniform.

We will be attending 4 tournaments this year. 2 local, 1 in Buffalo, NY and 1 in Southern Ontario that will require an overnight stay.

Next season I will be help by Peter Kotsopoulos who will be the team manager and back up trainer. We will be looking for the following parent positions for the upcoming season.

1.    Assistant Coaches

2.    1 Team Trainer

3.    2 practice coaches

If your child makes the team, they MUST attend the Tigerware fitting on Tuesday, May 7th@ 6PM.

If you have a question for me, then please email me. If you have a concern, then please respect the OMHA protocol of waiting 24 hours to contact the coach. Please contact me via email after this time. If I receive an email before this time, I will respond when the 24 hour wait period has expired.

THANK YOU and I look forward to seeing you at the rink.
