Welcome to the Minor Atom AE Tryouts!
Welcome to the AMHA – MINOR ATOM AE Team Tryouts!

My name is Brandon Schad and I will be the Head Coach of the 2017/ 2018 Minor Atom AE Team for the upcoming season.  I know this is a stressful time of year for both the players and parents.  Thank you in advance for taking the time to attend the tryouts.

TRYOUT SCHEDULE:

          Tryout # 1        Thursday, May 4          6:00pm to 7:30pm        ACC 2

Tryout # 2        Saturday, May 6          11:30am to 1:00pm       ACC 1

Tryout # 3        Sunday, May 7            11:00am to 12:30pm     ACC 2

Upon arriving at the arena, you must sign-in at the desk in the lobby of ACC 2 to be assigned a tryout jersey colour and number. The jersey colour and number are random and do not reflect a skill level or where you played the previous year.  All jersey’s must be handed in to the coach or bin following the completion of each tryout.

Kindly note that full protective gear is mandatory, including neck and mouth guards players without, or missing such equipment, will not be allowed on the ice, and cannot participate in the tryout.

The tryouts are an anxious time for all of us while the players are evaluated.  It will be an extremely difficult task choosing 17 players (15 players, 2 goalies) for each team from a large group of hardworking athletes.  Player selections will be based on their individual abilities such as:

· Skating

· Puck handling

· Shooting

    ·Team play

· Hockey sense

· Attentiveness

    · Attitude

· Desire

· Coachability

To ensure the selection process is fair for all players, there will be a team of evaluators, as well as a team of independent evaluators put in place by the AMHA.  Please do not approach evaluators, all questions should be directed towards me.

Communication of my player selections after each tryout will occur via the website and NOT in person at the arena. Your player’s passport submission ID number (6 digit code) is the number that identifies you on the website.

Go to the AMHA website – look on the left side under ‘Team Sites’, click on ‘ATOM’ and then the Team Page of ‘Minor Atom AE’. Again on the left, under the ‘Team Pages’, click ‘Tryout Player List’ to see your ID code.

If your code is listed on the website, please attend the next Tryout.

Ø  Following the 1st Tryout, results will be posted AFTER 4pm the next day.

Ø  Following the 2nd Tryout, results will be posted by 8pm the same day.

Ø  Following the 3rd Tryout, results will be posted AFTER 8pm the same day.

It is important to know that playing Rep hockey requires a big commitment both time-wise and financially.  This year we will be playing approximately 40 games (exhibition, league and tournaments).

Each week we will be on the ice 2 to 4 times per week for practices and games.  There will also be 2 to 4  tournaments (some local and at least one out of town). Budget outlines have not been completed but we expect it will cost approximately ($2000-$2,500) per player for the season (without the help from our sponsors).

Parents will be called upon to obtain sponsorships, organize fundraising activities, and to support the team administratively.  There will also be a mandatory team dress code for games.   For the Minor Atom AE team that will include track suits, jackets, hats and bags.

All successful players will be fitted for Tigerware Tuesday, May 9th at 6pm.  Lion’s Share, 16610 Bayview Ave.

Should you have any questions or concerns please feel free to contact me away from the arena.

It should be clearly understood that if your child should make this team, it will be the coachs final decision as to the positions they will be playing.

Thank you in advance and I look forward to a fun and rewarding season!

Sincerely,

Brandon Schad

Head Coach
