My name is Andrew Butler and I will be coaching the 2015/16 Minor Atom AE Tigers.  Together with Coach Doug Brown, I would like to welcome you to our upcoming tryouts!

During the tryout process, your player will be assigned a tryout jersey, colour and number for each session.  Jerseys must be returned to the coaches immediately following the completion of each time on the ice.  Full protective gear is mandatory, including neck and mouth guards – players without, or missing such equipment, will not be allowed on the ice.

Player selection for our team this year will be based on each player's individual attitudes and abilities, including:

  • Team First Attitude.   Attentiveness.   Coachability.
  • Skating.    Passing.   Puckhandling.   Shooting

IMPORTANT NEW INFORMATION FOR THIS YEAR -- PLEASE READ:

Tryout information and results will be conveyed electronically via the new AMHA website tryout procedure.

  1. Purchase a Tryout Passport prior to the first tryout session

  2. Memorize the Passport Number for your player

  3. Following each tryout session, refer to the AMHA Minor Atom AE website:
  • CHECK FOR UPDATED POSTINGS UNDER "TRYOUT PLAYER LIST" 3 HOURS OR MORE FOLLOWING THE END OF THE TRYOUT (NOT BEFORE)

  • If your player’s Passport Number APPEARS on the website...your player should attend the next session

  • If your player’s Passport Number DOES NOT APPEAR, your player has been released from our tryouts and will not attend the next session

IMPORTANT: If your child makes this team, the final decision as to the position(s) they will be playing will belong to the coaches.

Finally, please note that if selected to the team there will be a mandatory jersey fitting on May 14th from 6:00-7:30pm in the Boardroom of ACC1.  There will also be a Tiger Wear Fitting Day on June 20, 2015 for those selected to our team.

I look forward to seeing you at the arena!

--------------------------
Note: Playing rep hockey requires a big commitment both time-wise and financially.  This year we expect to play 30 league games as well as play-offs and tournaments.  Our regular ice times have not yet been determined, however, each week there will be 1-2 practices and typically one home and one away game.   We also expect to attend 3 tournaments.  Budget outlines have not been completed but we expect it will cost ~$1,500-$2,000 per player for the season.  Parents may be called upon to obtain sponsorship, organize fundraising activities to help offset these costs and to support the team administratively.  There will also be a mandatory team dress code for games.
