U13 AE Welcome & Tryout Information
Hello parents and welcome back! My name is Mike Charendoff and I am excited to be the Head Coach of the U13 AE Aurora Tigers. Below you will find information related to the 2021/2022 U13 AE Tigers Team. Including information on tryout process, schedule, and evaluation criteria.

TRYOUT SCHEDULE:

Tryout #1 = Friday, October 1, 2021– ACC #2 – 7:45pm to 9:15pm

Tryout #2 = Saturday, October 2, 2021 – ACC #1 – 12:00pm to 1:30pm

Tryout #3 = Tuesday, October 5, 2021 – ACC #1 – 6:00pm to 7:30pm EX GAME

TRYOUT PROCESS:
1. You must pre-register your child on-line (AMHA Website) for the upcoming season & purchase a tryout passport.
2. Please arrive at least 30 minutes before the tryout begins.
3. When you arrive at the lobby of ACC #2, please go to the AMHA table to sign-in and receive your child’s tryout jersey. THIS JERSEY MUST BE RETURNED AT THE END OF EACH TRYOUT! It does not go home.
4. Full protective gear is mandatory, including neck and mouth guards – players without, or missing such equipment, will NOT be allowed on the ice.
5. You must attend the first tryout in order to be invited back to the second and third tryout.
6. There will be a team of independent evaluators who will be assisting me with assessing the players. The AMHA will also assign a team of independent evaluators.
7. During and after the tryout, please do NOT approach the evaluators, as they have a job to do.
8. Decisions after each tryout will be communicated via the website and NOT in person at the arena. Your child’s passport submission ID number is your code that identifies you on the website (Look up U13 AE for the team and the tryout page).

• After the 1st tryout, results will be posted after 10:00pm the same day.
• After the 2nd tryout, results will be posted after 6:00pm of the next day.
• After the 3rd tryout, results will be posted AFTER 6:00pm the next day.

I am aware that some players (and/or their parents) may experience anxiety during this process. PLEASE kindly reinforce with your child that they perform at their best when feeling relaxed and confident. It is also important for parents to help manage their child’s expectations during this process. A roster position on this team should never be assumed. Let’s all make the tryout process an enjoyable one!

COVID PROTOCOLS:
All players must complete a OHF screening form and bring the printed copy with them before each tryout. One parent or guardian per player is permitted to stay and watch but must also provide a printed screening form before each session as well. These forms are to be given to the Safety Ambassador at each event prior to entering the building. In addition to this, it is expected that everyone follows Provincial Health guidelines including maintaining physical distancing and wearing a face mask at all times inside any of the facilities.

TRYOUT EXPECTATIONS:
The following is a list of what I am looking for during the tryouts:
· Skating    · Coachability    · Hockey IQ
· Puck handling  · Shooting    · Attentiveness
· Attitude   · Battling    · Team play

TEAM EXPECTATIONS:
• There will be a financial commitment from each family. The estimated financial commitment will be approximately $1,800. to  $2,250.
We will be looking for sponsorships and fundraising to help reduce the cost per family.
• There will also be a time commitment required of each family. We will be on the ice 2 to 4 times per week with practices and games. It is expected that all players attend all practices and games.
• We will be attending approx. 2 to 3 tournaments (this will be discussed more in detail at the parent meeting)
• Our team will not be traveling outside of Ontario this year.
• I will be looking for the following parent positions:
o 2 assistant coaches
o 2 or 3 on ice practice coaches (Goalie Coach) o Team trainer (I would prefer more than 1 as a back up)
o Team Videographer
o Conditioning coach
o Treasurer
o Other roles (fundraising, on-ice helpers during practices, safety ambassador)

• All decisions about player positions are at the discretion of the coach and will most likely change during the season based on the needs of the team.
• If your child makes the team, they MUST attend the Tiger ware fitting date and time. This will be posted later.
• I would like to start our season immediately following tryouts with our parent team meeting.

If you have any questions for me, please feel free to email me. If you have a concern, then please respect the OMHA protocol of waiting 24 hours to contact the coach. Please contact me via email after this time. If I receive an email before this time, I will respond when the 24 hour wait period has expired.

Finally after the last 18 months we have all gone through, I look super forward to seeing you all at the rink!

Thank you.
