Welcome to the 2021–2022 hockey season!
Welcome to the 2021-2022 Aurora Tigers U11 AE team tryouts!

Hello parents, players and guardians, my name is Kris French and I am looking forward to coaching the Tigers U11 AE team this season.   Good luck to everyone trying out and thank you to the parents for taking the time and allowing their child the opportunity to be considered for this team.

The U11 AE tryout schedule is:

Tryout Process
1. You must be registered with the AMHA and have obtained a tryout passport from the AMHA website to participate.
2. Please arrive 30 min before our tryout time.
3. When you arrive at the lobby of the ACC, please go to the AMHA table to sign-in and receive your child’s tryout jersey. THIS JERSEY MUST BE RETURNED AT THE END OF EACH TRYOUT.  It should not go home.
4. You must complete the Covid questionnaire before attending the tryout and bring the sheet to the check in at the AMHA table.  Sheets may be provided at the table if not able to print at home.  Please be aware of all Covid protocols in place and follow accordingly.
5. Full protective gear is mandatory.  Players missing equipment will not be allowed on the ice
6. You must attend the first tryout in order to be invited back for the second and third
7. There will be a team of independent evaluators assisting with player assessments. The AMHA will also provide independent evaluators to assess the players in these tryouts.
8. During and after the tryouts please do not approach the evaluators as they have a job to do.
9. Communication of my decisions after each tryout will occur via the website and not in person at the arena.  Your child’s passport submission ID number is your code that identifies you on the website.  After each session a list of passport numbers will be posted on the 2021/2022 U11 AE webpage.  These numbers will indicate which players are being asked to return for the next tryout.   (Go to the U11 AE Team tryout page on AMHA website)

• After the first tryout, results will be posted after 9:00pm the same day
• After the second tryout, results will be posted after 4:00pm the next day
• After the third tryout, results will be posted after 4:00pm the next day

Tryouts can be an anxious time for all of us and it’s a difficult task choosing players for the roster. Let’s make the tryout process an enjoyable and positive experience!

Tryout Expectations
The following outlines what I am looking for during tryouts:
• Skating • Effort & Compete Level • Coachability
• Puck handling  • Hockey sense • Attentiveness
• Shooting  • Team play • Attitude
• Passing

Team Commitment & Expectations
• Playing rep hockey brings with it additional commitments in both time and money.  These should be strongly considered by each family before entering the tryout process.
• There will be a financial commitment from each family in the range of $2000 - $2500 for the season.  We will be looking for sponsorships and fundraising to reduce this cost
• We are on the ice 2 to 4 times per week.   It is expected that players attend all practices and games.
• We are planned to attend 3 tournaments. The number of tournaments we are able to attend is determined by Hockey Canada’s Long Term Player Development model
• Our season extends to April 2022. Please make your vacation plans accordingly.
• There will be a Tigerware fitting date to attend upon making team (Fri October 8th, 6pm - 7:30pm)
• All decisions about player positions are at the discretion of the coach and may change during the season based on the needs of the team.

Team Parent Positions Available
Following selection of the team, I will be looking to fill the following roles:
• 2 Assistant Coaches
• 1-2 On Ice Practice Coaches/Goalie Coach
• Team Manager / Treasurer
• Team Trainer (with at least one backup)
• Safety Ambassador
• Other roles as required (fundraising, etc.)

If you have any questions for me, please email me.
If you have a concern, please respect the OMHA protocol of waiting 24 hours to contact the coach. Please contact me via email after this time. If I receive an email before this time, I will respond when the 24 hour wait period has expired.

Thank you and looking forward to seeing you at the rink.
