Midget AA Tryout Welcome Letter

WELCOME TO THE AURORA TIGERS MIDGET AA TRYOUTS!

Players/Parents,

My name is Troy Adams, head coach of this year’s 2019/2020 Midget AA hockey team. For those that don’t know me, I’ve been coaching hockey for over 10 years and am looking forward to the season ahead. Below you’ll find some details about the tryouts and the team.  For all interested, thank you in advance for taking the time and I wish you the best of luck.

There will be a total of four tryout sessions: (Each tryout will have a $ 15 tryout fee at the desk)

Magna

Saturday, Sep 7

Tryout Procedures

During the first and second tryouts, I will be evaluating potential players for core hockey skills.  Tryout drills will test each player’s abilities in the areas of skating, puck control, passing, shooting, physical play, hockey IQ and presence on the ice.

Please be at the rink at least an hour prior to tryouts, have warmup attire with you and be prepared and ready for a pre-skate warmup with a trainer.

Sign in prior to each tryout, pay your $ 15 tryout fee and receive a tryout jersey.

Full protective gear is mandatory (including neck guard and mouth guard).

Goals and Expectations

As a coaching staff, our main goal will be to help the boys enjoy another season of hockey, and to teach and develop skills for all players, especially:

-      the concept of a team, team play and the importance of working as a team;

-      the value of working hard, and that hard work leads to success;

-      developing a competitive spirit, but also that success does not necessarily mean always winning;

-      fostering the building of friendships that reaches beyond the arena;

-      developing good sportsmanship (win with class and lose with grace and pride);

-      most importantly – ensure the players continue to enjoy the game.

If you become part of the Midget AA team, the hockey fees for the season will be approximately $1,800-$2,200 per player (which is over and above the AMHA registration costs that have already been paid).

Following the team selection, I will be approaching parents regarding assistant coach, trainer, manager, team parent and support positions etc.

Thank you for participating and good luck!

Coach Troy         ([email protected])
