Welcome to the 2019/20 Minor Peewee A Team Tryouts!

Welcome and thank you for taking part in the 2019-2020 “Peewee A” tryout.  My name is Jamie Fryer and I will be the head coach for the 2019-20 season.  I would also like to announce that James Mildon will be an assistant coach.  Please see the information below for detail on the upcoming season:

Team Goal:

My goal is for this team to be the hardest working, most competitive team in our league while also being one of the least penalized teams.  I strongly believe that we can outwork and out compete other teams without taking bad penalties.  I want our group to be a team first / pass first hockey team with no cliques in the dressing room.  I expect the players to respect each other, coaches, their opponents and referee’s.   I want our group to love each other, play for each other and have fun at practice and in games.  We will have an amazing year if we can achieve these goals.

Tryout Schedule:

Tryout #1 = Saturday, April 27th from 2:30 PM to 4:00 PM at ACC1
Tryout #2 = Sunday, April 28th from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM at ACC2
Tryout #3 = Tuesday, April 30th from 7:45 PM to 9:15 PM at ACC1

Bubble Calls:

At the coaches meeting for the 2019-2020 season the AMHA and coaches had a lengthy discussion on the topic of “Bubble Calls”. For those of you new to Aurora Minor Hockey, in previous years, the coach of that specific team would contact the family of the player prior to the 3rd tryout who played on the team in the previous season, who is now fighting for a final spot on the current seasons team. Upon discussion, the AMHA has decided that there will be NO “Bubble Calls” to incumbents for the 2019-2020 season. The rationale for this decision is that the AMHA continues to expect us as coaches to select the best skaters and goaltenders to comprise our team. The AMHA will still have independent evaluators which provides consistent discretion on individual talents on each player that are compared to our evaluations. As always, we encourage that you share this information with your child and to make sure that she/he understands that they must always give 100%, at all tryouts, and all season!

Selection or Release Process:

After each session, a list of passport numbers will be posted on the 2019/2020 Peewee A webpage.  These numbers will indicate which players are being asked to return, those not listed will have been released to the Peewee AE team (who are coached by former AMHA coach of the year Mike Lane).

Team Budget:

$2K to $2.5K per family

Thank you and Good Luck! Jamie
