Welcome to Bantam MD tryouts

Welcome to the 2018 Bantam MD tryouts. My name is Ken Kauffeldt and I am the returning coach for this year's team. As most of you are aware by now, 'MD' replaces what was previously 'AE', indicating that there will NOT be body checking in our division again this season. There will still be some 'contact' as it relates to angling and good body position, but no body checking. Regardless of what level, or where you played last season, I will be looking for a group of players that compete, have some grit and never give up. EFFORT, EFFORT, EFFORT!

The Minor Bantam MD tryout schedule is as follows:

Friday May 4 at 8:30 -10:00 ACC1

Saturday May 5 at 2:45 -4:15 ACC1

Sunday May 6 at 2:30 - 4:00 ACC1 (exhibition game)

You must have purchased a passport from the AMHA in order to attend these tryouts. When you check in at the tryout table, each player will be assigned a tryout jersey which must be returned at the end of the tryout. Goalies should bring their own practice jerseys. Full protective equipment, including mouth guards, is required to participate. Each player is assigned a number that you will look for on the Bantam MD team site after each tryout to determine whether you have been invited to the next tryout, and ultimately whether you have been selected to be on the team.

As with any other rep team, the time and financial commitment for those selected is significant. I expect we will be on the ice 3 - 4 times per week, and the financial committment will be between $1500 and $2000 per family. For those players selected for the team, there is a Tigerware fitting scheduled for Wednesday May 15 at 7:30 pm at Lion's Share (16610 Bayview Ave, Unit 8, Newmarket).

Tryouts are a stressful time for everyone involved and there are always some difficult decisions to be made. I expect this will be the case with this tryout as this has turned out to be a very competitive tryout process for this age group. Lets all try to be supportive of the players and keep the atmosphere positive for the players, evaluators, parents and AMHA volunteers.

Good luck!
