My name is David Kiratzis and I will be the Head Coach for the upcoming season.
Tryout dates are:
Sunday April 30th 1:30-3 PM ACC Lincoln(2)
Monday May 1st 6:30-8 PM ACC Ford(1)
Wednesday May 3rd 7:15-8:45 ACC Ford(1)
All parents will refer to this website to find results from each tryout. After the first tryout the results will be posted by midnight that same day. After the second and third tryout the results will be posted the following day after 4pm. Parents will look for there players ID number on the list. If it is there then they are invited to the following tryout. After the third tryout if your players ID number is there they have been selected for the team.
My philosophy, when coaching young hockey players, is to establish a positive environment encouraging the development of not only their hockey skills, but also important values such as teamwork, commitment, sportsmanship, dedication, respect, perseverance and fair play. Practices will be structured focusing on skill development, teambuilding and FUN! The coaching staff’s measure of success will be through the progression made by the kids from practice to practice and game to game and their development of the values noted above, not by wins and losses.
Players will be evaluated on all aspects of skill related to hockey. Skating, shooting, passing, and team play. Also hard work, effort, coachability, and attitude.
Myself and some other associates will be evaluating each tryout.
During the season, players selected for this team will be skating 3-4 times per week, beginning the first week of September. There may be weeks with more or less ice time depending upon our game schedule.
All positions will be finalized by myself and coaching staff if selected for the team!
I am still finalizing a team budget that I will present at our first parent meeting. Team fundraising initiatives and corporate sponsorships will be undertaken in order to reduce these costs. My plan is to participate in 3 to 4 tournaments during the season. Plus an early bird tournament in September, details to be determined at a later date.
Please note that if selected to the team there will be a mandatory jersey fitting. Practice jerseys and TIGERWARE will also be available at this fitting. The date is Monday May 8th from 6pm-7:20pm. Location is LION SHARE MARKETING. 16610 Bayview Ave Newmarket.
