Bantam AE Tigers Win Silver Stick Regional Qualifier Tournament
The Bantam AE Tigers won the Georgina Regional Silver Stick Qualifier Tournament this past weekend.

The Tigers had a spectacular weekend with 4 wins and 0 losses allowing them to move on to the International Silver Stick Finals in Pelham. The team scored 24 goals while allowing only 3 goals for the entire tournament, thanks to some outstanding goaltending by Joey Livia and Andrew Zuliani.

During round robin play, the team displayed great composure while facing two hard-hitting teams from Temiskaming and Clarington. The Tigers moved the puck well, and played solid hockey to win both games by scores of 9-1 and 5-0, respectively.

By placing first overall, the Tigers were given a bye to the semi-finals. The team, once again, faced the Temisikaming Puckhounds who were looking to avenge their 9-1 loss. The Tigers played disciplined hockey, stayed out of the penalty box, and moved on to the finals with a 5-0 win over the Puckhounds. In the Championship Game, the Tigers faced their toughest competition of the weekend playing the Waterloo Wolves. In a hard fought game, that had fans on the edge of their seats, the Tigers held on and took the Championship with a 3-2 win over Waterloo.

Coaches Stewart Ritchie, Keith Scott, Ron Cocking and John Spicer were proud of the efforts of the team over the weekend. The Tigers played some of their best hockey of the season allowing them to move on to the International Silver Stick Finals being held in Pelham from January 4-8, 2017. A job well-done Tigers!!
