Minor Peewee AA Tigers Win Belle River Tournament
Congratulations are extended to the Minor Peewee AA Tigers for winning the 16th Annual Randy Merten/Dan Holland Memorial Tournament in Belle River this past weekend.

The team went 2-0-2 in round robin play. In the first game the Tigers took on the host team, Belle River Canadians. The boys played a spirited game and won by a score of 3-1. The next opponent was the Ted Reeve Thunder from the Greater Toronto Hockey League, and the final score ended in a tie, 2-2. In Game #3 on Saturday, Aurora battled to another tie against the North Erie Storm, 1-1. The final round robin game was against another strong team, the London Knights. The Tigers needed a win to clinch a spot in the championship game, and to their credit, they played one of the best games of the year, skating away with a 4-2 victory.

In the championship game, the team took on the Ted Reeve Thunder one more time. Both teams played hard and the Tigers were able to get off to a strong start by scoring two quick goals. The Thunder came back and tied it up at two in the second period. Both teams exchanged scoring opportunities for the remainder of the game, but the Tigers were able to score the winning goal with only a few minutes remaining. It was a championship win and it was a fantastic effort by the team. Congratulations to all of the players, parents, and coaching staff for a fun-filled tournament, on and off of the ice.

Special thanks to Paul Millar for sharing the story.
