AURORA TIGERS MINOR BANTAM “AE” – 2015 – 2016 TRYOUTS
Thank you for attending the Aurora Tigers Minor Bantam AE tryouts.  I would like to thank all of the players in advance for participating in the tryout process.

There will be a total of (3) tryout sessions on the following dates:

Current tryout assessment plan:

TRYOUT #1 - individual skill assessment
TRYOUT #2 - Individual and team tactics
TRYOUT #3 - Inter-squad scrimmage with referees

Evaluation Process:

I will be using an independent evaluation committee to assist in the selection of the team.  All evaluators have years of experience with selecting teams, and are personally involved at the highest levels of hockey outside of the Aurora Minor Hockey Association.  The evaluation committee will be focused on the following categories:  Various Hockey Skills, Desire, Complete Level, Coachability for Development, Behaviour, Sportsmanship and Fitness Level.

Each player will be assigned a colour coded tryout jersey upon checking in for each tryout.  It is important that all jerseys are returned after each tryout.

Invite Back Process:

Approximately 2 hours after the first two tryouts, the passport codes for the returning players will be posted/updated on the website.  Please carefully check for your code on the website.  For the final tryout, the team will not be posted until the following day (since it is a school day, we will be posting after 4:00 p.m.).  Please carefully check for your code on the website.

The intention for the 2015-2016 roster will be 15 skaters and 2 goalies.

Player Positions:

Without exception, the coaching staff and myself will determine all player positions for the 2015/16 season.

2015-2016 Team Staff

Consideration is being given to non-parent coaching positions, however, folloiwng the team selection, I may be approaching parents regarding coaching positions and trainer.  I do expect that all parents will be involved in supporting the team in some fashion during the hockey season.

I am very pleased to announce that Judy Coultes-MacLeod has accepted the role of Team Manager.  Judy has a tremendous amount of team management experience, and the selected team is very lucky to have Judy accept the role for the 2015-2016 season.

The Season Ahead - Time and Financial Commitment:

Rep hockey requires a significant time and financial commitment.  The 2015/16 season is tentatively scheduled to go from (late) August 2015 to April 2016.  The schedule will consist of 30 York Simcoe Minor Hockey League (YSMHL) league games followed by the playoffs (including March Break 2016).  We expect to enter three to four tournaments, one or two of which will be out-of-town.

Generally, there will be two games/week (one home/one away) and one to two practices/week.  Budget outlines have not been completed, but we expect it will cost approximately $1,500-$2,000 per player for the 2015/16 season (including Tigerware apparel, if needed).  Parents may be called upon to obtain sponsorship and organize fundraising activities to help offset these costs and to support the team administratively.  There will also be a Tigerware dress code for all games.

Mandatory Dates:

Jersey fitting - Thursday, May 14, 2015 - 7:30 - 9:00 p.m. - ACC#1 boardroom

Tigerware Fitting - Saturday, June 20, 2015 (more details to follow)

Team Parent Meeting - within 30 days following final tryout.

Thank you for participating, and good luck to all players!

Thank you to the parents for their support.
