Atom AE team caps off successful year with OMHA finalist trophy
The Atom AE team capped off a successful 2014-2015 season with an excellent effort in the OMHA Championships against the Halton Hills Thunder.

In a season focused on player development and fun, the Atom AE team capped off their efforts with a strong showing in the OMHA Championships against the Halton Hill Thunder.

The road to the OMHA Championship Finals was a long one, as the Tigers needed to win three separate series against eager and skilled opponents.

Round 1 began on January 20, 2015, with the Innisfil Winterhawks coming into the series with momentum, having played a close-checking style with much success. The Tigers stepped up to the challenge and were able to win three games, advancing to Round 2 against the skilled Markham Waxers.

Round 2 began on February 8, 2015, and it went five games, as both the Tigers and Waxers traded wins and a tie, before the series was clinched at SARC East, with a hard-fought 3-1 Tigers win.

Round 3 began on February 28, 2015, as the Tigers took on the Clarington Toros in a series that went four games. The Toros played hard and fast, creating some exciting moments for both teams. The Tigers were able to make some adjustments and clinched the series in Clarington, once again, against a talented and skilled opponent.

The OMHA Championship Series began on March 13, 2015, and it pitted the #1-ranked AE team in Ontario, the Aurora Tigers, versus the #2-ranked AE team in Ontario, the Halton Hills Thunder. Three of the four games were decided by one goal (empty net goal, aside), and it was a back and forth series. The atmosphere was electric in all of the games played, both in Aurora and Halton Hills, as the packed stands rang out with air horns, sirens, cheerleader songs, and plenty of excitement. An overtime win in Aurora set up the opportunity for the Tigers to even up the series in Halton Hills, but unfortunately, the team fell one goal short, losing 4-3.

It was a successful season for the Atom AE team, as they finished with a 58-10-6 record, having competed in the championship games in all six of their tournaments, and winning three tournaments, including the Orangeville Early Bird, the Georgina Regional, and the International Silver Stick Tournament. The Tigers ended the season as the #2-ranked Atom AE team in Ontario, just behind the talented Halton Hills Thunder.

Sincere appreciation is extended to all of the friends, family, and fans who helped support the team this season. It was a season to remember.
