Aurora Minor Atom AA Tigers Capture Can Am Montreal Challenge Cup
The Aurora Tigers Minor Atom AA Tigers captured their 2nd tournament
title of the year winning the Can Am Challenge Cup played in Montreal
from November 14 - 16, 2014.
The Tigers opened the tournament by beating a very talented Oakville Rangers team in dramatic fashion 4 - 3. The game included fantastic saves, a short handed goal, and goal with the goalie pulled and a breakaway goal for the game winner with only a few minutes left on the clock. The Tigers went undefeated in round robin play by also beating the Markham Waxers and the Minuteman Flames (Massachusetts) by a combined score of 12 -1. Given their undefeated status the Tigers earned a birth in the Gold Medal game. The championship game was a rematch with the Oakville Rangers who were looking to avenge their round robin loss to the Tigers. The Gold Medal game was a hard fought game with great goaltending again by the Tigers and lots of end to end action. The Tigers emerged victorious by scoring late in the game for a 2 -1 victory. Congratulations to all the boys and thanks to the team and their families for a great weekend in Montreal.
