Team 602-Yellow Competes and Develops in the Martin Van Gool Memorial Golden Puck Tournament
Congratulations
are extended to the Aurora Tigers, Team 602-Yellow team for winning all of their
preliminary games to advance to the quarter finals in the Martin Van Gool
Memorial Golden Puck House League Tournament. The team, made up of dedicated
group of hard-working hockey players, competed and showed excellent development
in their well-played tournament games.
The Golden Puck Tournament welcomed teams from across
Niagara Region and beyond. In the Peewee Division, there were five pools with a
total of 20 teams. At the end of round robin play, the Tigers Team 602-Yellow, had
the best record with three wins and no losses. They were ready for the
challenge of meeting the top teams from the other pools.
In the quarter-finals, the Tigers played a team from the
north shores of Lake Erie, the Port Dover Pirates. The Tigers battled hard from
the first to the last whistle, and importantly, the Tiger coaching staff was
pleased with their squad’s effort, teamwork and the sportsmanship demonstrated
by Tiger players. It was a fantastic game, but unfortunately, the Tigers were
narrowly edged, 1-0.
Coaches Brian Hickling, Dave Stewart and Keith Scott were
proud of the discipline, determination, and camaraderie the boys displayed on
and off of the ice. It was so nice to spend the weekend with such a good group
of players and parents.
Congratulations Team 602!
