U15 A - Orillia Champions

The weekend started with a very tough regular season loss!  The boys came prepared to “Compete”.  The first game started a little rough being down to a team from North Durham 3-0.  The boys brought into the team effort approach we were preaching.  At the end of the first game we ended up being tied 3-3 to win in a shootout.

Saturday morning brought us up against the number 1 ranked team in the province.  After 60min the game found us tied 0-0 to go on and lose in a shootout. (brutal way to win or lose a game).  Our third and final game saw us facing an up hill battle.  We needed to win by at least 5 goals.  The boys battle hard and played an amazing game and took care of their destiny with a 7-0 win against a very tough team from Timmins.

Sunday morning
brought us up against a very strong team from Whitby that was undefeated in the tournament.  The boys battle extremely hard and held a 1-0 lead to only see it slip away with 20 seconds left in the game with the goalie pulled.  The boys held their heads high and went on to win 2-1 in a shootout, bringing us to the final with the same team that we battled to a 0-0 draw the day before to only lose in the shootout to them.

The game started with a very quick pace and we found ourselves down 2-0 after the first.  The boys committed to our “Team Effort” after the first and at the end of the second we were sitting in a 2-1 game.  The message to the boys was we got them right where we want them!  The boys battled hard in a back and forth 3rd period.  The TEAM ended up tying the game with less than 5 min left in the 3rd.  We figured as a Coaching staff we were heading to another overtime/shootout.  Through their hard work and determination, we managed to get the puck down low and the Boys went to work scoring the game with the Winning Goal with 5.7 seconds left beating the first ranked team in Ontario.

Bottom line, the Coaching Staff is over the moon PROUD of the resilience of these boys-  and the sky is the limit for them!  Great weekend of Hockey Boys!! The Coaching Staff & Parent Group are extremely proud of you all and how far you have come in a short period of time.

Lets keep it rolling!

Coach Chad
