Welcome to the U10 A Tryouts!!
Hello Parents,

My name is Ed Noon, and I am super excited to be the head coach for the 2024/2025 U10A Aurora Tiger’s hockey team!  I would like to welcome everyone to the tryouts and thank you for taking the time to attend. I wish each player the best of luck!

TRYOUT SCHEDULE:

Tryout #1 -> Saturday May 4th, 2024 – ACC 1 (McAlpine Ford) – 11:30 am – 1:00 pm

Tryout #2 -> Tuesday May 7th, 2024 – ACC 2 (McAlpine Lincoln) – 6:15 pm – 7:45 pm

Tryout#3 -> Thursday May 9th, 2024 – Magna Honda Arena - 5:45 pm Exhibition Game vs Newmarket Renegades

TRYOUT PROCESS:

1.You must pre-register your child online (AMHA Website) for the upcoming season & purchase a tryout passport. Once you have purchased your tryout passport you will receive an email with a submission ID, this will be your child’s passport number.

Details can be found at:

https://auroraminorhockey.com/Forms/2893/2024_-2025_Tryout_Passport_/

2. Please ensure that you indicate the position that your player is trying out for, however all decisions about player positions are at the discretion of the coach and could change during the season based on the needs of the team.

3. Please arrive at least 30 minutes before the tryout begins.

4. When you arrive at ACC, please go to the lobby of rink 2 and visit the AMHA table to sign-in and receive your child’s tryout jersey. THIS JERSEY MUST BE RETURNED AT THE END OF EACH TRYOUT. It does not go home.

5. Full protective gear is mandatory, including neck and mouth guards – players without, or missing such equipment, will NOT be allowed on the ice.

6. You MUST attend the first tryout in order to be invited back to the second or third tryout. If for whatever reason you are unable to attend, please email me to discuss.

7. There will be a team of independent evaluators who will be assisting me with assessing the players. The AMHA will also assign independent evaluators.  During and after the tryout, please do NOT approach the evaluators, as they have a job to do.

8. Communication of my decisions after each tryout will occur via the website and NOT in person. Your child’s passport submission ID number is the code that identifies them on the team website. If your child’s number remains on the website after the site has been updated, you are invited to come to the next tryout.

After the 1st tryout, results will be posted that day no earlier than 3:30 PM

After the 2nd tryout, results will be posted no earlier than 7 PM on May 8th.

After the 3rd tryout, results will be posted within 3 hours after the end of the game.

During the tryout, evaluators will be looking for multiple hockey skills including players skating ability and speed, puck control, passing and shooting, and compete level when battling for the puck and position.  Just as important as these skills, evaluators will also look for coachability and hard-working players with a positive attitude.

I am aware that some players (and/or their parents) may experience anxiety during this process. PLEASE kindly reinforce with your child that they perform at their best when feeling relaxed and confident. It is also important for parents to help manage their child’s expectations during this process. Let’s all make the tryout process an enjoyable one!

TEAM EXPECTATIONS:

There will be a financial and time commitment required from each family invited to join the team. The estimated financial commitment will be approximately $3,000 in addition to the AMHA registration fee already paid.

We will be looking for sponsorships and develop fundraising to help reduce the cost per family.

The time commitment will be 3 to 4 times per week with practices and games. Our season will run from September 2024 to April 2025. It is expected that all players attend all practices and games.

We will be attending 4 tournaments this year. 2 local and 2 away that will require an overnight stay.

I will be looking for the following parent positions for the upcoming season.

1.    2 Assistant Coaches

2.    Team Manager

3.    2 Team Trainers

4.    2 Practice Coaches

If your child makes the team, they MUST attend the Tigerware fitting on Tuesday, May 14th @ 6PM located at Lion Share Marketing, 16610 Bayview Avenue, Unit 8.

If you have a question, please feel free to email me. If you have a concern, then please respect the OMHA protocol of waiting 24 hours to contact the coach. Please contact me via email after this time. If I receive an email before this time, I will respond when the 24 hours wait period has expired.

THANK YOU and I look forward to seeing your player on the ice!
