Players should bring their OWN water bottle on the ice and leave it on either bench; parents are asked to stay off the bench areas during tryouts.
DRESSING ROOMS
As we are scheduled to have tryouts at ACC1 (small dressing rooms) please do not over crowd the change rooms and allow ALL players and the common courtesy of not overcrowding change rooms. We kindly ask for NO siblings in the dressing rooms and no more than ONE parent in the room to assist. Female hockey players or goalies trying out for the team will be assigned a separate dressing room and are asked to get changed in their assigned location.
TRYOUT INFORMATION AND PROCESS
Tryouts can be an anxious time for all of us. It will be an extremely difficult task choosing 17 players (15 skaters, 2 goalies) for this team from a large pool of talented athletes. To ensure the selection process is FAIR allowing EVERY skater and goalie an EQUAL opportunity to demonstrate their skills for and accurate assessment; we have appointed a team of independent evaluators to assist the team in accurately rating players. Please do not approach evaluators during the tryouts or exhibition game.
SKATERS will be evaluated against other skaters with an emphasis on their abilities to execute the following skills under pressure:
Transition and Agility Skating
Team Interplay
Compete Level
Passing and Pass Reception
Shooting and Scoring
Defensive Tactics
Offensive Tactics
GOALIES will be evaluated against other goalies with an emphasis on their ability to execute the following skills under pressure:
Lateral Movement
Compete Level
Rebound Control
Quickness and Reflexes
Low and High Shots
Usage of Stick
Positioning and Angles
Please note: Should a player or goalie impact another Tigers ability to demonstrate their skills and/or behave in an unsafe or inappropriate manner, they will be asked to leave the ice and dismissed from the tryout.
SELECTION
Coaches will utilise the AMHA electronic process for all player redirects. This involves selected players and goalies registrations numbers being listed on the teams website following each tryout and exhibition game. Lists will be posted within 90 minutes of the tryout or exhibition game concluding. Coaches will be available for player-parent feedback on redirected players, no sooner than 24 hours after the final tryout date.
TEAM COMMITMENT
It is important to know that playing rep hockey requires a big commitment both time-wise and financially. This year we will be playing approximately 30 regular season games plus additional playoffs, tournaments and exhibition games. The regular ice times have not yet been determined. Each week there will be, on average, two practices and one home and one away game. There will also be 4-5 tournaments. (two-three out of town). Budget outlines have not been completed but we expect it will cost approximately ($2,000-$2500) per player for the season. Parents will be called upon at the parent meeting to commit to a role on the team – this includes obtain sponsorship's, organise fundraising activities to help offset these costs and to support the team administratively. There will also be a mandatory team dress code for team selected on and off ice apparel for players and coaches.
APPAREL FITTING
The team fitting for Minor Atom AA will take place at Lion’s Share Apparel on Tuesday May 8th - 6:00pm-7:30pm
It should be clearly understood that if your child is selected to the team, it will be the coach’s final decision as to what positions players will be playing throughout the season.
BEST OF LUCK TO EVERY TIGER
See you at the rink!
